There are no ordinary days in Sophion. All days are different. What I do mostly is project management within software. I am the team manager for the software group - only the technical issues - not staff issues.

The best things about Sophion are the freedom and the flexibility that you have as an employee. You have a lot of freedom to choose what to work with. Because so many different projects are starting up all the time, there is always a possibility of trying something new. You can work with many different things if you prefer that.

All the days in Sophion are different. It is the same tasks - but there are still changes everyday. I do lots of stuff. Bio-testing, test on machines before customers get them and after the customer has received the QPatch. My job is to get the machine out to the customer. I do 50% technical service and 50% bio-stuff.

The most important thing which my job in Sophion gives me is flexibility. Doing different things, different tasks - I love that. Combined with the possibilities for traveling - I get the perfect match. Next week I am going to Cambridge, in November I am going to Paris. It's great.

I actually have two jobs at Sophion. One job is working in the lab; the other job is providing service to our customers. I plan workshops and demo days for the customers, I help them install their QPatch and I attend academic conferences and seminars. I travel around 35 days every year all over the world, India, China, Japan, US and in Europe.

Part of my job is to be updated on the latest research and focus of the biotech area. Right now the focus is on stem cells. It is really interesting. There are some practical and some ethical issues that we need to be aware of. I am very interested in that.

At Sophion there is always something new going on. I inspect the machine parts when they arrive at Sophion, making sure that they are the right sizes and follow the right measures.  After the inspection, I take the parts to our stock and then move on to the assembly of the QPatch. We are a team of 3 people who put the QPatch together.

I have been working at Sophion since we only were 15 employees. I have been part of building the company and watching it grow. Good colleagues, great working conditions and excellent benefits. It is really nice to work in a company, where the employees have different educations and cultural backgrounds as in Sophion. You get different opinions and perspectives on things - not just a monologue from people with the same background. It is almost like when you go on a trip to a different country.
