Sophion awarded the prize Entrepreneur of the Year 2010
Copenhagen, Denmark (November 26, 2010). Yesterday Sophion
Bioscience A/S was awarded the prize as Entrepreneur of the Year
2010 in the category Life Sciences for the development and sale of
the QPatch - the automated patch clamp system for testing thousands
of drug candidates on ion channels.
Ernst & Young's competition - Entrepreneur of the Year - is
the most prestigious contest on growth and a tribute to the most
talented and innovative entrepreneurs in Denmark. The contest is
distinct from others by focusing on the companies' ability to grow,
and on soft values such as social involvement and the ability to
inspire and involve the organization.
The award show took place in Bella Center in Copenhagen with
around 700 guests, and Sophion competed against 11 other companies
in the category Life Sciences.
The jury emphasized that Sophion's management, the shareholders
and the employees have shown remarkable stamina, showing their
value on the market. Sophion has succeeded in building a profitable
company with excellent sales progress in a competitive niche
market. Furthermore the jury emphasizes that Sophion is a good
example of Danish biotech; a company in growth, where the investors
can expect a reasonable profit.
Torsten Freltoft, CEO of Sophion Bioscience says, "We at Sophion
are extremely proud receiving this prestigious recognition of the
results we have achieved over the past years. I see this
achievement as a result of our focus on high quality and close
customer relations."
